Hardware recognition

We have been given a computer and are having problem recognizing the hard drives - When we go to install windows by booting from the CD, it says that it can't find the hard drives.
We have an Adaptec AIC-7896 SCSI BIOS v2.57s2b3.
Do we need drivers?
We have 3 hard drives that are removable.
Not sure if you need any more information, but if anyone could help that would be great.
Thank you

If you POST to the correct forum you are likely to get answers, rather than just ignored.

Moved: This thread is more suitable in General, as it is a Windows question, and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

This is a controller built into the motherboard I do believe. Looks like you need drivers. I would of expected the driver to be included with the windows installer. Make sure SCSI is enabled in the BIOS.

What version of windows?
What is the make/model of the motherboard?

basics, drivers, windoze
