Hard Drive Performances

I've already been here ,but I was wandering what the average specs for an IDE drive compared to a SCSI drive are (now) and what the fastest models of each interface are.

have you checked out the vendors - segate, ibm, quantum etc - they usually post their optimistic results.

as a general rule IDE are at about 7200 rpm 8-9 miliseconds seek time, ? bandwith

SCSI are about 10000 rpm and i think up to 6-8 milliseconds seek time, ? bandwith but greater than ide.

SCSI are always the choice when budget allows but ide have been showing great performance for bucks.

I don't think you will see a lot of difference in performance depending just on your harddrive.
I had anything between 6MB/s to 30MB/s as a output of hdparm -t on different distros and kernels and, and, and.
Didn't really feel much of a difference.
