Hey all,
I'm a big fan of
Project Gutenburg, a project that transfers books that are now public domain to digital format. What I want to do is downlaod the entire library, burn it to CD's (I know it's a lot of CD's) and on each CD include Google to search the contents of that CD.
What I want to know is if it's possible to have google do that somehow or if there is possibly another way to make the files searchable. Whatever the method it would have to:
1. Work on both Windows and Linux (hence a web-based search engine like google)
2. be able to run off the CD.
Anyone who knows about project Gutenburg, knows this is no small task. The Gutenburg Collection has a couple disk images. One which is a best of CD and one that was the whole collection for DVD. They both came out a year ago this month and the collection has only grown since then.
Thanks for your help
