Maybe even Lineage OS (The optionally google-less Android) or even Huawei's OS (forget what it's called) might work for you. But I read Google are launching a paid-for platform in Oz, so the free-for-all platform seems set for an exit. Incidentally, I can't see that working at a profit.

Incidentally, I heard on the news today that Google are "threatening to withdraw some or even all their services" in Australia.

Now they've quarrelled with Facebook too. FB has thrown a hissy fit and removed all newfeeds from Australian users. And apparently foreign FB users can't get any Australian news on their feeds either.

Google have now agreed to pay some news sources for content, including Murdoch.

Who cares?

I don't care if narcissistbook Facebook blocks their whole site to us, screw them. I'm glad I asked them to close my account many years ago now, good riddance to them!

I didn't rate FB as a news source anyhow, I'm surprised so many defaulted to it. I'm not a FB member, I don'y have to be. I'm told if anything interesting shows.

So it seems that in the face of the changed situation, FB pulled out but Google (who made the threat) coughed up. So who wins?

I care for neither of them, so it's hard to say who is more worthy of my disdain.

Did you succeed? The best I could manage was to let it become a zombie account because I wouldn't prove my identity by providing them with a lot of personal and confidential information.

Edit: grammar correction.

From what I remember, yes, I think I remember checking and as far as I remember my profile had been deleted - although I just done a quick search in my email, but couldn't find the emails from Facebook.

I do distinctly remember they bombarded me with emails asking me to reconsider and cancel the request, but I just ignored every one of their emails. I also remember that the option to request account deletion was well hidden - clearly very much on purpose.

I'll tell you who: 3AW.

Geez, they won't shut up about it. Switched stations on the way to work today.

FB is a private platform. Don't like their Ts&Cs, don't use their service. It's simple enough. I've managed to survive 46 years on this planet to date without a Facebook account.

I really couldn't care less about this storm in a teacup.
