Google Down?
I just hit Google a bunch of times in a row, and the front page (google.com) was working. Then I tried to search, and it came up with
Google
Error
Server Error
The service you requested is not available at this time.
Service error -27.
Weird. "That's never happened before." Google News was down also. It's been about 10 minutes, and other people on my LAN at work are having the same problem. Wonder if this is widespread?

That's strange, I'm getting the same thing with Yahoo search. Is anyone else experiencing this?

This is really wierd... the exact thing is happening to me with google. Sometimes, i get it with other sites as well, but its mostly google. For some reason, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. if it does work, and I use it too much, then it stops working... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...postid=1067165 I thought it may be a networking problem, maybe having to do with my router or something. My box seems to especially have trouble submitting queries. its wierd... because sometimes google doesn't work in linux, but does work in windows on my other computers on the lan. I have also found though, that when i turn my router and cable modem off, and let them sit a long time, then turn everything back on, things start working again. Perhaps they are overheating? they are kinda hot sometimes.
I really have no idea whats going on or even what i am doing.

nuka_t, this is not a suitable place to ask random questions about non-related issues. if you wish to get help about a particular issue not related to the fact that some people can't access google, start a new thread in the approriate forum. thanks

Ohhhhh MyDoom makes so much sense. Thanks for the insight
Do you know when things will go back to normal? Will the search engines be able to fix things?

What ever happened to a decentralized internet?
When something as essential as Google goes down, the internet becomes almost useless :(
Oh well, at least I got LQ ;)

I'm up for taking sweepstakes on this, I'm guessing at less than four hours from this post. Of course they'll be able to fix things, simply press the big red button and watch an entire building of motherboards restart. Imagine if they were Macs...

Repeat: "I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy, I'm not cra..." Jeremy, that article is kind of vague, though, or I'm just having trouble reading it.
Do you think it means that other computers on my network are slowing me down or that computers everywhere are slowing Google down, or both? :]

I am pretty sure (im just a noob though) that what the article means, is that all the computers in the world that are infected with that virus are making you get slowed down.
Therefore, if the computers on the network have the virus, then they are helping the rest of the world slow it down. But, if they don't, then its just the rest of the world doing it.
