Google Calendar randomly delete events

Hi there,

I am using LG cell phone, I've a strange problem that some repeating calendar events automatically deleted by itself, I contacted both LG and Google they both blame the other side for the problem, so I post in here to see if I can get any clue. I got the problem every few months, at first I thought I carelessly deleted the events so I re-created them, but then few days later I got duplicated events pop up on the phone ! I installed few different calendar apps and reset the phone to retry but still the same problem. After almost a year I discovered that some times the phone does not sync with the online calendar properly, the phone one disappeared but the online one remains, so when I re-create the missing events on the phone I will see double events online, and then double on the phone after sync., beside the calendar problem there is nothing wrong with my other Google services, so I think my a/c is not compromised, any comment ?

Are you using Google's calendar app?

They nag me to do that, but I've set up the Google calendar in Thunderbird on two windows and one Linux desktops and set the iPhone calendar to default to it, so everything gets reflected everywhere.
I've not had any trouble with that.

I'd suspect there's some confusion on your phone between the built-in calendar and the remote updates of the Google calendar...but that's really just a guess.

In my experience with Google Calendar, it seems that repeated events expire after six months and need to be reentered.

I've been too lazy to check the settings to see whether that can be altered.

I’m not seeing that...I have monthly recurring events that are present in the calendar in 2023…

Note that the connection to Google calendar recently changed...I had to redo in both Thunderbird and iPhone.
It behaves a lot better now! Enter an event on the ‘puter, have it show up in the phone in a blink!

I use Google calendar only on my Android and pretty much only for meetings and appointments.

Now I'm curious. I'll take a look at the settings tomorrow (if I remember).

I created the recurring events just couple weeks ago, and I still see them online as well as on other cell phones namely HTC, ASUS and Blackberry, I even removed my a/c on the LG and re-add but still the same problem, this is definitely a LG problem ! Beside that, some contacts on the LG gone missing in regularly basis, and sync to my other phones, but I can't be sure yet it is LG's fault or not.

I took a look at Google Calendar settings on both my phone and computer and could find nothing referring to the duration of the repeat. Then, on my phone, I looked at several of the regular events that stopped repeating after six months, and, in the repeat setting for the individual events, I found a Repeat-->Custom recurrence screen which specified an end date. Options included a customizable end date (which appears to default to six months), only once, or never.

I could find no dialog for changing the default.

You can see a screenshot here.

Thanks for the info., I do not have problem with 6 months old event but a week after I created the no end day event, it simply vanished into thin air ! how I 'fix' it before was to reset the phone, but this time that didn't work, and I spent half day to install back and setup everything on the phone that's pain in the neck, I give it one last try and delete the event completely to create a new one, bingo that worked !! the LG successfully sync the event, this is definitely a LG bug coz my 3 other phones worked fine, I will report to LG. Btw my other phones without this problem are running on Android 5.x and 6.x plus Blackberry 10, where the LG (V20) is on 7.0, I also have a G5 before having the same problem. Beside that I have 2 other problem with the LG, I will post in a new thread.

I have not experienced anything like that.

Did you doublecheck your google.com calendar to see whether event was also gone from there? I suspect it was, but, in the very unlikely case that it wasn't, the issue might be something specifically with your phone.

That is so weird, it actually happened to a friend of mine and he had a sync issue which was solved once he removed his account from the device and signed back in.
