godaddy linux webhosting and .htaccess, anyone successful?

Hey guys,

I recently got an account and host space at godaddy.com

I had my page on my schools webspace previously, and I would restrict access to certain pages via an .htaccess and .htpasswd, no problem at all

However, I now want to get this to work on godaddy and I am having troubles. I've already exhausted google, everyone seemed to have gotten .htaccess to work with their linux host by figuring out their full path name to their web space.

I have a full understanding of how the .htaccess and .htpasswd work, and no matter what i try, the webserver will not prompt me for a login and password.

Regardless of whether the AuthUserFile path is correct in .htaccess, it should still prompt for a login and password.

I am wondering if anyone has been successful with this. I called their tech support, but they insisted that it must be a scripting error on my part. And if its not, they cannot provide me any more support.

Thanks!
George

ok well it turns out that, unlike my previous server, I needed this directive:
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
