General Web question: How to have a user launch a text file
This is not linux specific, In fact I am trying to accomodate windoze users.
I'm trying to teach a couple of people that WebPage Setup can be as as basic as text editing. At the text editor step I want to say a little bit more! How can I have a user launch a text file with their OS default text editor? I want them to click and ... notepad or whatever launches. So then I can tell them why they need a real text editor. (If I gnu they had vim or bluefish it wouldn't be an issue...) In my 'test' this is accomodated in the browser. Not what I want to show them. Apparently this is the blind leading the blind ;) * Basically I'm launching a tutorial on basic Web page set-up. * It's really easy if you have a template and a text editor. As a beforehand example I want them to be able to launch a 123.txt file and see their OS default text-editor. No, I don't belong to a web development group... Mebbe you have recommendations? Any help appreciated. Thanks, alar |
