Gaming on Linux and Windows whiners

Okay, a bit of a rant.

I have been using some form of GNU/Linux since around 1999. I hated the fact that when I wanted to game I had to boot Windows. I was always forced to keep a copy of Windows installed to play games even though I didn't really want to.

Now we are finely getting games for us and our OS of choice is becoming a real player. This is great! Except every time I see a game developed I see Windows users whining and kicking and screaming until they get a version for themselves. I say screw em.... I mean for years we were mocked and laughed at and we were forced to pay MS to game. Now the shoe is getting on the other foot they whine?

I say release a block buster Linux only title! I want to hear Windows users say the only reason they run Linux is to play X game. That would put a smile on my face and I am sure many of you.

I now finally have the ability to run Linux only. I have no Windows machines at all and run Windows 7 in a virtual machine for my weather radar software (somewhere Linux is still lacking). But I am not forced at all to ever buy another copy of Windows and this is great.

Let's give them Windows users a taste of the medicine we have been taking for years. They need to stop whining already!

Er, what? I have not seen that at all. Which game(s) are you talking about?

I see it on a couple alpha games I belong to. Feature releases at times bring performance and sometimes new ideas to Linux users. Windows users whine. I get under the impression it may be easier to develop on Linux as it seems at some times the development moves a little faster on Linux.

Yeah, someone is going to make AAA title to sell it only to the 1% of users he could. Such a smart idea.

I'm sure at one point in time that was true. But Linux is everywhere! And besides, make a game good enough and the people will come. I think the separation between platforms is shrinking at a pretty good rate.

What are the chances of the Steam machines having exclusive titles? Probably pretty good. And exclusive titles are what builds marketing. I have seen people chase after the XBox for Fable back in its hay day.

So you would be targeting a healthy market. The Windows domination is ending and an exclusive Linux game would probably be enough to push Linux to new heights.

You have refused two requests to name the games you're talking about. At this point I conclude that you're lying for the purposes of trolling, and no such "alpha games" exist.

Also, name the game or stop posting drivel.
I care not which.

It's also piracy to not pay for the copy of Windows that you're running in your VM.

Read what I wrote... I have no Windows MACHINES. A machine is a device that has Windows installed and nothing else. What I do have is a virtual MACHINE that is not a real MACHINE...

I uninstall Windows from a machine and use a key I Paid for with the purchase of the machine to run a single copy in a virtual machine and this is piracy? I think you have a legal understanding issue here.

And I know some devs and talk to many who develop games. I have to prove a game to you elitist in order for you to believe me? Get real.

I run some testing game software and I am not allowed to disclose what I am doing in these alpha games. I am not even to allowed to disclose what game I am playing. So if I have to give some sort of proof Windows users are whiners (really?), then just consider me a troll and move on. It makes no matter to me.

Then you should never have started this thread.

And I broke no contracts doing so. So in all fairness this thread is perfectly valid.

Virtal machine / bare metal it makes no odds, you are still running windows.

Please read the EULA that you accepted when you started using that copy of Windows 7.
Don't whine about it here, if you feel it is restrictive whine to Microsoft.

Pointless discussing the game, since you can't discuss it.
Therefore the initial post is rather pointless.

Might have been easier to state that it was 'super secret game' after the initial Title request.

It makes a huge difference. I will no longer pay the MS tax. And buying a Windows machine is buying a Windows machine. I am typing to you now on a laptop purchased from System76 so I supported Linux buying this computer. Yes, I am under the impression that supporting the little guy and buying from someone whom supports Linux is a big deal. So my virtual machine is hogwash and if it had to go today it could go. I use software for detailed radar as weather is a hobby and Linux is just not there yet. The point is, I had to dual boot to run Windows games, now I don't have to dual boot and that is that. So this has turned into this for what reason? Is it to discredit me? Well, much of you elitists that feel the need to try and knit pick a persons post to death should feel ashamed of yourselves. Besides, I am a minority. How many of you have supported the little guy and bought from a company that has the sole purpose of supporting the OS you love????? I rest my case....

And I am sorry that I didn't give you a new game to play. That is the only reason you would want to know what game I am talking about. So this is not my problem but yours and all who think like you. It has nothing to do with the topic, it eats at you because I didn't give you that idea.

Why should I have titled it any different? It was not about the game but instead about the whiners who are Windows users in this instance. Does anything else I said matter really?

I guess I'm a troll. You got me. I ranted and that is who I am. Shame on me.... Pfft, you all have flawed logic...
