Question Games Just crash (Windows)

hey, I recently bought a Geforce 6600GT, and a new PSU (from 350watts to 600watts) but when I try to play a game I can play it online for about 3 -4 mins and then it just crashes to my desktop, first of all I throught it was a graphic card, so I sent it back and got a replacment but I got the new one today and it does the same god dam thing. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it or what to do my pc specs are below

Epox EP-8KKMEI
AMD Atlhon 2600+ (1.95ghz)
512MB Of Ram
660W PSU
TV Card,
Sound Blaster Live
80GB Maxtor HD

I have tryed updating the driver, I have flashed the bios to the lasest version but still nothing, any help would be great

Thanks again

David

What game? or all games?
does dxdiag show anything wrong? (what version of DirectX?)

Are using the drivers from NVidia or from the graphics manufacturer?

try enabling/disabling fastwrites

Where are you getting the temps from? Is that "max50" from a log or where?

And what's the brand of the PSU?

Maybe the gfx card is overheating? I have the exactly same card you have and it died on me a few days after I've purchased it. Thank god I had warranty and got a brand new one. I've upgraded my PSU and it has been working fine since then.

I recommend you to check the gfx temperature and CPU temperature after you've played a couple of minutes. A little anti-virus, anti-spyware and defrag might help.

Are you overclocking? Some games will crash if you are overclocking. Same goes to the graphics card too.

You might check in the display properties to see if the video card is overheating. Try and set it to output a log file if that is possible. The motherboard utility will only monitor the CPU and motherboards temps NOT the temps on the 6600.

Also use the official nvidia drivers, if you are not already. Try using a utility called "Driver Cleaner Pro" to reinstall your drivers, google it you will find it. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully. Also make sure you have the correct and the latest motherboard drivers, as these things can happen with outdated motherboard drivers.

But I suspect the power supply, you might try using 3dmark05 and run it in a loop and see how long it takes to crash(if it does at all.) If it crashes at a specific point all the time it's probably the card, if it's completely random it's probably the PSU. Although, that is not an exact science.

I'm assuming of course, that this did not occur with your previous card.

If it's just the 6600 then I'm thinking the card. Does the manufacturer have anything on their page about it? I would probably return the card for one made by another company.
