ftp through M$ explorer doens't work


I have installed vsftpd on fc4, it works fine if I use firefox on one of my linux boxes i do ftp://user@servername and i login fine BUT if i do the samething from a Windows internet explorer i get error message "please make sure u typed the correct hostname or ip address"

also I login fine useing gui ftp client from windows machine "Wsftp" and its also fine though the windows command line too

Wouldn't you also need to provide a hostname that you
want to connect to?

There's a setting somewhere in internet setting for IE. I think you either need to check or uncheck the "use passive FTP" option. I don't have windows on right now so I can't confirm exactly what the option is but start there.
