This...is what a server (at startup) sounds like. Thankfully, these are in sound proof cabinets...
Think about it the next time you cant reach a site...

I built a bunch of proliant 6500's on a bench. Those had hot pluggable redundant fans. I'd wait until someone walked into the room and power a couple on and wheel backwards in my chair convincing them that if I turned on more then one at a time the fan wind was blowing me back.

I recently got a old PowerEdge 1950... can confirm, it's loud.

@ maples - yep, they can be loud, but then, so can Kebu and that's music too

Spare a thought for those us like me who have to fix these things when they break, and a lot of that work is on hot servers so you can't switch them off.
