My company has PuTTY installed and I asked my IT system manager and he said he did not ass the fonts himself but it has to so woth the newest versions like I have here at home. But I cannot see the TN3270 font listed.

TN3270 usually comes with a 3270 emulator package (to access an IBM mainframe) such as IBM Communication Server; so if you know which 3270 emulator you have at work you know where the font comes from.

Ok, Im confuse now...

Whjat systen adnim hgas (Putty v0.59) I saw a lust of many fonts like the TN3270. I want to have it the way its done like that at the office.

For the PUTTY.

And how is it done??? How can install or transfer the font files into Putty itself?

Heres my problem, AT my work we received an email from our IT guy to install PUTTY. So I proceded to do so and I went to the APPEARANCE SECTION OF PUTTY were I can set the type of fonts and I saw the TN3270 or IBM-3270 font type listed there...and here at home I have Putty too but no 3270 fonts.

Why?

And in additioan to that, the PUTTY came with another BAT file called PuTTY.bat, and PuTTY.exe

Then, I emailed these files to myself and I downloaded them onto my machine but the fonts disappeared like the TN3270 font and the rest.

SO there just default fonts now on my PC. But at my work's PC, the TN3270 font is there in the list...

Hope this clears up everything.

Now, heres my question, how can I add this font to my Putty in my PC?

As I said: your 3270 emulator at work came with these fonts, and every program you have at work can use them. As you don't have that 3270 emulator installed at home, you don't have the fonts, so you can't use them.

Technically speaking you can copy those fonts from your computer at work to your computer at home, which would make them available to every application you use at home. Legally speaking, you must check the license of the 3270 package.

The font files are usually somewhere below c:\windows in a directory called fonts IIRC, and the name would be something like tn3270.ttf. But that's all guessing, I don't have Windows here nor these specific fonts.

Is there a way to have the TN3270 font added into Putty itself? Can you explain please?

If Im lucky to have the font....

I was looking for this info a couple of days ago and one of the first places google sent me was this thread but since I found the info and the thread still appears as a coogle source for it I thought I might as well post here the info to make it work.

First the font similar to the one used by the IBM 3270 terminal is called nouveau-ibmand can be downloaded from this link: http://www.dafont.com/nouveau-ibm.font

1) Download it, then install it by double clicking on the font and clicking on the install button.

2) Open PuTTY and load the site you want to use it one by selecting the site and clicking on load.

3) On the left pane select appearance and then select font and use the Nouveau IBM and set the size to 12

4) On the left pane select colours and select Default Foreground and change the values to: Red: 29, Green: 233 and Blue: 122 and then select Default Bold Foreground and change the values to: Red: 31, Green: 255 and Blue: 141

Once you login into your server you should be able to see the font like this:
