First stage boot loader

1) It is possible to install first and second stage boot loaders separately
(one after another)

boot loader : grub

I have done so, though accidentally.

I did not have LBA set on my drive during my original install. Grub level 1 got installed, but Grub level 2 did not. Of course, I also could not get it to boot from level 1.

I changed the LBA, reinstalled (which installed Grub levels 1 and 2, I assume) and off I went.

Does that help any?
