Are you talking about this addon onebuck? Or are you talking about switching it using the about:config method?

Your user agent displays Windows 10 for your post above. Is that what you were expecting? Or is that supposed to be the Slackware user agent instead?

Yes, I have tried both and still no acceptance except here at LQ. My firefox addon is 'User-Agent Switcher and Manager'

EDIT: I can switch here at LQ but not accepted at some other sites.

It's working in your last post.

This is what mine says to use.

Can you try those sites in another browser, with a microcoughed string?

Edit: 2nd to last.

Hi,

I have switched the string and still get a no go. I can use my Microsoft Dell Laptop and no issues. But not my Slackware based Dell. Not a big deal but some sites will not let me access on the Slackware machine with a Microsoft string in user agent. Just a bug in my craw.

I just installed it and have set my user agent to Windows XP to test it, so I'll try posting here as well as testing it elsewhere. Then let you know.

I just tested it on Google and https://whatsmyos.com/ and they both think I'm using Windows XP (which is what I set the user agent to with the same addon as mentioned above in post #5).

I took a screenshot of the Google tab where Google thinks I'm running Windows XP.

I just tried using Emerson's link and changed the UA with the same addon mentioned in post #5 and it did see the new UA.

Might try subbing their string with mine.
It is a Google-Chrome browser string though

Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 13597.66.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/88.0.4324.109 Safari/537.36
Why they won't accept linux strings in 2021 is still a mystery to me.

Well, there may be another thing, if you masquerade as Windows browser they actually may feed you incompatible HTML code. Using Safari string may be a better solution.

Edit: Hey rokytnji, did you get the email I sent you?

Just noticed this. Let me check trash and spam. No. Your email did not make it .

So I tried myself.

This is a message from rokytnji at LinuxQuestions.org ( https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ ). The LinuxQuestions.org owners cannot accept any responsibility for the contents of the email.
So seems my part is working.

Title of my message to get through my spam and trash filter words was " What's Up "
Then I just filled the message with " this is a test. "

Edit> sending you a friends request because maybe my forum settings stopped your email from coming through. I keep my profile kinda private.
