Hi, thank you for the heads-up.

I have one general question which I have yet to find a solution to, and that is...

how would some one install firefox from this source package?

I've tried several ways, including rsync to ~/.mozilla, and rsync to the old programs folder in usr, which seems to work ok.

but the only problem I see is that my /usr/lib64/firefox folder is still /usr/lib64/firefox-6.0.1

If I try to install in /usr/lib64/firefox I have to chase links to get the program to run.

I've read recently that lsb compliance is slipping in the *buntu's and fear it is spreading to OSS like mozilla.

any tips welcome

regards Glenn

the 64 bit build is on the FTP site
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or.../linux-x86_64/
then choose the language
EN-USA
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...-x86_64/en-US/
source
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...latest/source/

to install from the source and NOT the pre-built binary
you might want to read the mozilla docs
"Working with Mozilla source code"
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Dev...de/Source_Code

"Build Instructions"
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Dev...d_Instructions

I think it's just a compressed tarball, I never have to "build" or compile.

Code:

tar:/home/glenn/local/Archive/sources/firefox-8.0.tar.bz2/
I checked through some links (post #3), and it seems they are mostly info for devs.

Not sure, do I have to make a Makefile?

as far as I remember it has been this way for a long time.

There is next to no documentation in the tar ball, install, readme, copy, about, etc.

it might help propagation if it did have some suitable docs. (If this is true for the alpha releases too then )

regards Glenn
