Well I think I finally got a browser I can stick with besides lynx of course as I like to be the command line man, I just got opera 5.0 installed, that was easy to get installed even for a beginner like me, I now finally have a browser that loads quick and actually shows sites correctly, ( I don't like netscape or mozilla, no particualar reason just never really liked them ) I have been reading around this forum seeing what others like and I saw this was one of the top ones, just glad to finally have one that I like. Just a little rambling from me today as I am in a good mood

I love Opera compared to some of the others, DESPITE what acid-kewpie says it being a girls browser

Nutscape and Mozilla are not near as fast, and frankly they seem to crash much more frequently.

You could always use I.E. which is fairly stable. Of course, it monitors all your online browsing and keeps your private information for later access by unscrupulous individuals, but hey. Millions of other people dont seem to care.

I.E on linux ???????????? You must be nuts, I thought the point of linux was to get rid of Microsoft Ok I'm not quite that closed minded but I would like to have my linux straight not microsoft involved.

Opera 5? Wait till you come across a website that uses java applets , but if you have java support in Opera 5 I would like to hear how to make it java aware.

I dont have a problem running Java applets on various sites.

What exactly is yours doing?

I have java installed and every time I come across a java enagled site let's say http://www.dslreports.com to test my connection speed so I can argue with earthlink about it, so as I said the applet never loads, opera 6 beta is fine, there's a plugin directory where you can configure it, but 5 doesn't come with such luxuary, does it? And 6 stinks in terms of stability, so I am waiting for the next release of Opera.

Actually I just looked closer, there is plugins tab in Opera 5 preferences, but enable java option is always shaded and unchecked, tell me how to make it enabled if you have the solution.

I haven't run into a problem yet on a site and I tryed your dslreports site, lucky for me there is not dsl or any dream of having it ummmm EVER I live in a mostly amish community. Kind of off subject but what is a good mp3 player for linux, I am running gnome, do any good ones come with it?

XMMS is the facto mp3 player for linux (think of winamp for windows), mpg123 is a command line player which is a backend for almost any music player for linux out there.
