fetch execute cycle

I'm studying IT in college and I've come up with a question of whether every computer component is involved in the fetch execute cycle.

I would say yes so far as you move a mouse and the instruction sent is processed by the CPU and the monitor is the output of the CPU though it seems like a rather vague question to me.

If anyone would like to help me answer this question then I would be grateful.

I am guessing this is a homework question. Check the rules, asking for help on homework in this manner would be against the rules.

That said, think about more than CPU as a Tower, Video as a Monitor, and Keyboard as Input. A Tower has a CPU, GPU, MPU, registers, ram, and tons more to it. You computer is made up of FAR MORE than 3 components. You need to look more deeply. Check out Von Neuman architecture and start LOW LEVEL.

such a assumption is unsafe in a generic environment.

the lecturer who set me the question wasn't quite sure how I should answer it either.

I know it isn't really a Linux question though I thought the best place to start would be the guys who deal with the hardware lol.. yes I'll be more careful in future.

Well thanks for helping me answer this question, I suppose I'll get back to work
