Feedback required for java application development
Windows or Linux, which platform is much more preferable and flexible for Java and J2EE application (except cross-platform programming language advantage).
Any pointers are most welcome.

Exactly as cs-cam. Though, I would still go with Linux, not only for the stability, but all the powerful, free text-editors you get out of the box and even the possibility to compile java code into binaries with gcj (also out of the box, or almost) makes it the ultimate dev. platform, in my honest opinion. And here, unlike Windows, the console actually means something
Also, I have had problems several times in Windows with filenames getting damaged by the Explorer, usually because of Windows' bad handling of character case in filenames.
On the other hand, in Linux, I've had problems (jdk1.3.0_01) with keyboard mapping for my French keyboard.
