Error Retrieving Mail from Linux Mail Server: Unable to Scan $HOME/Maildir
As implied in the subject, I am having mail retrieval problems. My network has one linux machine that is the mail server as well as the default gateway to the internet. The Linux server runs CentOS Release 4.3 with SME Server 7.0. All other machines operate on Windows XP or VISTA, and use Thunderbird (mail client).
I have set up about 15 email accounts, and all have been functioning well till now - for only one of them. In all mail clients now, attempts to retrieve mail for that account returns the error that reads in part: "Unable to scan $HOME/Maildir", which I think is a server error.
I have tried accessing the mail using webmail (Horde), and was able at one point, and deleted some spam/bulk mails, but that did not help. Now I am not able to access the mails through webmail (timing out).
Is there any way I can delete some of the mails using some command-line utility. (I can access the server remotely using Putty)
