Encryption in wireless email?

I know that some people are able to receive an send email from regular cell phone. My question is if it is possible to encrypt message in the cell phone. Does cell phone and the email program has ability to encrypt messages?

Thanks a lot

AFAIK GSM transmission is encrypted (but it's not a very good encryption).
More 'advanced' cell phones can be loaded with new programs, so you can add one to encrypt emails. I'm not sure if it's loaded by default.
When the email reaches its destination it needs a second program to make the encrypted message readable. Of course, the email program and the software used to send the email from cell phone must be compatibile.

I suppose it depends on the cell phone you'd like to use (different OSes...).
