email provider

up to this point I have survived with mail accounts provided by my ISP and/or freebie accounts. My current provider, gmx, is not too bad but they a bit over zealous about picking up spam. And their robots are having difficulties following my "not spam" instructions.

I am therefore asking for recommendations on a decent paid email provider. I am a low usage customer so I don't need a huge mailbox allocation. I tend to get about 10 emails a day. Mostly text based although I do send/receive 5MB (pdf) attachments now and then. As long as I can use thunderbird and access mails via the web then that is really all I need. I guess a smart phone app would be nice although k9mail should do the trick.

I hope I am not breaking any rules here (promoting advertising) but would understand if this thread was deleted.

similar threads do already exist here on LQ, so the only rule you broke is "search before asking"

i use and heartily recommend it to anyone.
it fits your usage scenario perfectly (but they're literally across the globe from you).
they have a nice web ui (which i never use).
and k-9 mail does the trick on my phone.

what i like best: there have a lot of alternative payment methods, even cash.

For spam free paid email account have tried Gsuite? You can also try any to contact few web hosting providers, most of them do offer email hosting.

I also use gmx but I went online and cancelled their spam checker. I do my own with my mail program (not thunderbird, but I'm sure thunderbird can handle it).
