Ebay Scam

I just got an email asking me to verify my account information.
Surprising since I don't use Ebay, but anyway. I followed the link,
and filled in various vulgarities into the form. I was wondering if
anyone knows of special credit card numbers that set off alarm
bells when they are attempted to be used?

Only your own. Unfortunately, despite all warnings and news stories, many people are gullible enough to fall for this. If you see one of these mails, report it to eBay and they can get the site shut down.

You don't have to register, they have email addresses on their website.

Every one that I followed, it asked me to sign in register. I can't imagine that I am the only one though. :-D They even have a feedback selection with a pulldown option
'Suspect Email from Ebay received'
'Unsolicited Email from Ebay received'
etc...

I was more interested in causing the spammer a whole lot of grief adding tons of useless and incorrect information.

I registered, my personal info started with "F**k You". It made me feel a little better. Of course everthing I gave them was vulgar and bogus.

I believe its just simply spam@ebay.com or abuse@ebay.com

I'm sure like most companies that large, they have aliases setup to get to to correct department, etc.

You could also email the admin of the parent site of the link you followed. I've gotten much faster responses that way than emailing ebay. Just make sure you don't email them from an account you actually use, and that it's a legitimate site. Most of the time I've found phishers are using free eastern european hosing sites. Remember, as long as the sysadmin isn't the spammer, you've got a good chance they are a geek just like us and hate this stuff.

Normally, you forward them to << spoof@ebay.com >>.

I've been getting one-or-two a month lately. I would think eBay should also try to get them on copyright infringement if they can find the people, since they basic'ly steal the whole eBay page.

I've also gotten a couple from online banks that I don't have accounts with.
