dyndns.org/dyn.com services revoked.
Hi,
I've had a free account with dyndns.org (now dyn.com) for years to keep track of my home router's external IP address. It runs dd-wrt and automatically updates the IP to dyndns.org and also forces an update at least once a month even if the IP has not changed. This has been working very well. However today I received and email from dyn.com with the following text: Quote:
Anyone else in the same situation? Any recommended alternatives? Or perhaps someone has already scripted the an automated log in to the site? TIA, Evo2. |
Yeah me.
Haven't got the email yet but have been expecting such a move for a while. Do you like being monetised? ;) No solutions yet, but I'll start looking too... |
Don't have an acct, but I've automated logins using Perl + WWW::Mechanize module in the past.

Think this may be solved already: but I'll give it a few days to make sure it is working as I expected. Evo2. |

No-ip (which I use) has the same time limit for free accounts, but only if you don't use a client that refreshes the IP data. I get a mail from them once a month for a VPS with a static IP (no need to refresh the IP) and just click on the link provided in that mail. For my home-server, which runs the client because of dynamic IPs, this is not necessary.

Hi,
this is a just a follow-up post to that freedns.afraid.org is still working very well for me and as such I'm marking this thread as solved. Hmm, no "mark as solved" option in the thread tools. Perhaps because this is posted in "General"... Evo2. |
