DWeb and what next...

(Didn't really know the best forum?)

Just read this and followed up on all the links.

I think I'm excited, but the learning curve involves a lot of Blockchain stuff...

Feedback?

I don't agree with Baker's statement that "humanity lives at Facebook", whichever way it was meant to be parsed. :p

The article seems to be hinting at distributed internet technologies, which presumably means relying less on ISPs in favour of peer-to-peer connections, but it mostly talks about using less large content-delivery companies - as if self-hosting of websites, or using multiple small providers, wasn't already being done. I think would be good to make such things easier for The Masses(TM), but one doesn't necessarily lead to the other.

I think both kinds of 'distribution' are a good idea on the whole, but expect (continued) resistance and FUD from many quarters. The state broadcaster in my country has already run its share of scare stories about Terrorists on the "Dark Web"!!11 (the Dark Web being anything on the internet and not indexed by Google). :banghead:
