Audio, TV and Video games can be a very powerful influence in peoples lives. Let me use a biblical parable as an example.
In the new testament Jesus answers a question about preaching the faith to those who are ignorant of Jesus's message. Jesus's answer is (in paraphrase) "My message is like the seeds that a farmer sows in the field. Some seeds fall on the hard rocks and do not grow. Some seeds are eaten by birds and other animals. Some seeds do not grow because the conditions are hostile to their growth. However, some seeds do fall into a fertile place and grow to fruition."
Much of the debate here is focused on the method of broadcast and not on the message that is broadcast. The broadcasters know that the message will not be 100% effective. However, they broadcast the message to a wide enough audience so that the message will continue to be perpetuated from generation to generation.
So my suggestion to everyone, is that we focus our discussion on the message that is broadcast and not debate the method of the broadcast.
