Google has 87.33%
Bing 6.46%
Yahoo 3.3%
Duckduckgo 2.53%

How much do you use duckduckgo? I use it when I can, but google sometimes gives better search results.

I use ddg 99% at home, 50% at work. Google does give results that are often more attuned to the search, and I'll use them if I can't find what I'm looking for in ddg.

Ditto. Google only as a last resort.

This is a ddg household also.

I've also seen heard some radio ads for ddg in recent months on a local radio station I occasionally tune to in my car (when I'm not listening to a podcast).

DDG is my default search engine so I use it most of the time. But sometimes, if I can't find what I'm looking for, I use Google because it seems to have a greater coverage.

My default search engine in most browsers is DuckDuckGo. The one exception is a Google browser profile I use for YouTube, logging into my almost defunct Gmail account, etc., where I - quelle surprise! - have Google set as the default search engine.

Where I want a wider array of search results than just those from DDG, I will sometimes use a Searx instance I trust. If I want results from Google but I am reluctant to let Google easily associate the search query with me, I will use Startpage.

Brave Search also looks interesting, but I do not use it much.

You can make dukduckgo even lighter. If you run a web browser with images, scripts, plugins, DnsPrefetch, turned off by default.

Duckduckgo will let you have plain old html search/results.

I only use ddg — I haven't used google for years, except where it's built in to a site for internal searches.

petelq 12-28-2021 12:50 PM

I use startpage browser always. I use ddg on my mobile but I don't use the mobile much other than calls, text and offline(only) calendar. Startpage professes to be private and seaches google anomously. I guess not many use it otherwise google would stop it I suppose.

There's some controversy about DDG (but to be fair, there isn't a single search engine without).

I am back to using StartPage (anonymised Google search).

fatmac 12-31-2021 05:34 AM

Tried other search engines, but the big 'G' always gets more right answers for me, so that's what I use.

Wasn't there a controversy about who owns StartPage?
