Angry double license of cedega and the fact that they have published 4.4 5$ but no cvs yet

hi,

first excuse my bad english.

its about cedega. i think they $uck$ </censored> cause they have a 4.4 in release bynary but not in the cvs .. is this an anti-cvs ?

i have on my debian sarge wine from cvs and cvscedega. i have installed it myself so wine and cedega are usuable each for their capabilities
my launcher for understand :
WINELOADER=/usr/cvscedega/bin/wine WINEPREFIX=/home/toto/.cvscedega/ /usr/cvscedega/bin/wineserver; cd /home/toto/.cvscedega/c_drive/Program\ Files/Funcom/Anarchy\ Online; WINELOADER=/usr/cvscedega/bin/wine WINEPREFIX=/home/toto/.cvscedega/ /usr/cvscedega/bin/wine Anarchy.exe

i just want anarchy online rocks (if possible) for cedega, n for wine word n winamp (yea i know why ? i got my little reasons)

i really like the fact that i play for free; i think that entertainment should be free.
but since 15.9.6 (i think) there are problems with loading textures sometimes on determined places ('newland' and 'mort').
kewl to play free, but no fun to let your team friend in death cause your screen is mad
('mort' retro-translation from french is 'death' )
all textures seems to be draw everywhere (for example the life bar in chat window right corner, n geometry draw everywhere, so impossible to read anything), after on minute all the screen is mad like you have seriously over-clocked your graphic card. Sometimes, this is the gui that disappears, all of that only in some places. sometimes i can when moving camera try to fix it if i do that quick but when its 'loaded'.. all that is possible is typing /quit [enter] but when reload .. you need to be recruit another time in the team, n when you got an english like mine..

i dont know if these messages are related or not cause im not in the head of transgaming (and thats the problem) :

fixme:ddraw:ProcessStridedVertices light vertices in software
fixme:ddraw:ProcessStridedVertices can't handle VOP 40c yet
fixme:ddraw:\Direct3D7_EvictManagedTextures (0xb7aa0180): stub
fixme:ddraw:\D3D_GL_texblt no source data for texture load
err:ddraw:\D3D_GL_texblt glGetError returns 00000502 for D3D_GL_texblt
\for not have a these three lines

so my question (i just want you to have a reflexion not to change the world is why transgaming can release a version (12 july) of cedega 4.4 but there are no one new file and no branch 4.4 in cvs ? why all this night around cvs version ? on what flaw in the original WINE license they work for not have any complaints about that ?

So what you're saying is that they should IMMEDIATELY release the latest version for free, sell zero licenses of the commercial version, resulting in going broke and no version 4.5 or 5.0 a year from now?

have you looked at the forums for AO and the older vs of cedega?

as for cedega not being free right this second on the new release that came out yesterday... sorry dude pay up your $5USD and deal with it. $15 is not to much for the fast responce of the devs at transgaming to deal with fixing patch issues and what not of most MMOs, i know for a fact they work their butts off with supporting WoW (world of warcraft) and are often way faster then Blizzard to fix problems that arise in a patch.

for that alone the $15 every 3 months is worth it.

i would give some money to these guys.. but without a credit card , it will be hard. but i agree, work is not free.
i dont know how many coders there is, nor how much money they give them, because all that i see on their website is non-communication and non-communication again.

what i say is 'why they use GPL and AFPL' .. but they are NOT releasing any code. so are they right with law ?

Perhaps you should fully read both the GPL and AFPL to understand them..

Basically GPL says you are obliged to release the code only to those who get the binary.

And you can sell the binary under GPL. So only those who've paid can get the binary.

In other words, there is scope for commercial usage (note the term: not "proprietary") of Free Software under the GPL.

It is important to remember that LQ!=Cedega/Transgaming and Cedega/Transgaming!=LQ. If you, or anyone, has an issue with the way they do business you should call them. Really. We're good but not that good.

IIRC they also take paypall so no need for a CC.

if you are 18+ you can open a bank account and have the bank issue a Visa check card. this works just like a CC but you do not have to have a CC and the credit issues that follow a CC.

Get your parents to do it, or a friend and give them the money, its only 4 1/2 dollars - I'm sure they won't mind

I'm sitting here, readin' and disbelievin' ... are we really talking about five freakin' bucks?

Maybe you should spend your time going into the local burger joint and explaining to them that "hamburgers should be free." Maybe they'd give you a free one just to get you out of the store.

If you really want to see a free Cedega, buy a license, request the source per GPL, remove the Cedega trademarks, recompile it, and release the GPL components (along with the source per GPL) as a Cedega-derived project, a la Centos.
