Don't buy a Gigabyte mouse
 

It lasted about 3 months and now the mousewheel is dead. That's what I get for buying from a company that doesn't make mice. I had to, because where I am now, there are very few choices for mice.

I will only buy from trusted companies from now on tho, really just Logitech as I've never had one of their mice quit on me yet. Again, I would buy it if I could find it. I did find one recently and bought it and I hope it will last forever.

On my mice the mousewheel is the first thing to go. I do clean it from time to time because it starts acting up, but in the end it will die. Maybe someone will come up with a new technology to replace the current one, and then it will make these crappy mousewheels disappear much like ball mice.

I'm working on a technology that allows you to plug a USB cable directly into your brain so all you have to do is think about what you want. Unfortunately, it keeps getting hacked with some sort of virus 'cause every time I try it, my hard drive gets filled up with porn.

Seriously, I agree with you. Logitech takes a licking and keeps on ticking IMHO too.

Yep. all my input devices (besides that XBox360 pad) are from Logitech, never had any problems with them.

I'm using an old two-button-one-clickwheel USB Microsoft mouse and a PS/2 keyboard on my main desktop, while my "clunker"/"frankencomputer" has a Logitech "Wireless Desktop" wireless keyboard/mouse combo since it's set up on my dresser (I figure wires would be a PITA, and it's not like I do much with that machine anymore). :p The MS mouse/PS/2 keyboard actually came with the clunker, but I switched the mouse/keyboard setups a while back due to latency/response time concerns (wireless mice have that annoying milliseconds-long delay that's only just detectable, but is annoying nonetheless).

Both setups work just fine for me, and who knows how old/worn the MS mouse is; all I know is that the Microsoft logo on the back has been completely worn off… :p

Well, I'm not even going to go there...

I've had a logitech laser mouse for well over 7 years (possibly even 8 by now) that still works perfectly. In fact, I've gone through two keyboards in that time. The first was the keyboard that came with the computer (although to be fair I've a new desktop), and a Microsoft Natural Keyboard (4000 or whatever it's called). I'm on my second Natural (which I think I've had for about 2 years now) and which I think is heading the way of the old one... Couldn't tell you why though.

I must be gentle on my equipment - I can't remember ever having a mouse break.

Next time I need a new pointing device I have an urge to try a trackball.

Why would you trust Gigabyte? Mouse, Bob and Dot would question your intentions on the web...

That is true, and that's what I do in the US. The only problem being that I'm not in the US ATM. I'm in the former Communist block, and it's pretty much worse than it was in Communism. There's no Logitech here, or very very rarely one very cheap Logitech. I do have one of these and it is working, but it doesn't have back and forward buttons.

Cyborg RAT 7 for the win! Although it has driver issues in Linux... I almost always have to kill and restart X after I turn on my computer so that the mouse works properly.
