I would name my cat "mewo"
Seriously speaking, I would prefer to keep rare pet names instead of common ones.

I'm with Khaleel on this one; rare names are more interesting. My old cat was called Quentin, but unfortunately he died two years ago.

I already have a cat named 'Misu' (pronounced Me-Shoo). If I ever get a new cat (maybe 2 new cats) I would name one ZZ, and the other one Top.

Simon and Garfunkel? What other two name music acts were there?

Or, you could name then after director's/movie character pet names. In Spaceballs there is a reference to Mel Brooks' dog Pongo (I'm sure you can use it as a cat name though), or in Austin Powers, his nemesis' cat name, Mr. Bigglesworth. You know, I remember watching the 1980s cartoon show Inspector Gadget. I never quite figured out what was the name of Dr. Claw's cat.

Well I know that this thread is about 'common' pet names. I don't know a whole lot of common dog names, perhaps Buttons, Fido, cats, Mittens, Spot. I don't know, those seem so boring, why not be more creative? Another idea, if you have two male dogs or two male cats, you can try naming them Mario and Luigi. It would work great if you had a lizzard and named it Bowser. (I just can't help myself )

Why settle for any old boring name. Be creative.
