View Poll Results: Do You Miss the Netbook And Hope it Would Revive Again
My HP Mini is still working very well, running Slack 14.1 on it. I would miss it if it died. Its small for traveling with. Fits in my backpack with my camera. Provides on site backup to pictures I will probably never have a chance to duplicate. 8 hour battery life is great, along with a 120 gig drive.
My only complaint about netbooks in general is the lack of processing power. Linux does a great job of hiding that as much as possible, but (at least on my Atom) it's still fairly clear that I'm using a machine that has almost nothing behind it.
I can't believe they sold these things with XP on them...
Laptops/notebooks are great if you attach a mouse.
I bought my first laptop in 1998 and had company purchased prior to that. Haven't used a mouse since

I think video power was more of an issue. My biggest issue was just scrolling through a document was too slow, my tablet was faster.
I hate touch screens
(there damn hard to clean and you risk damaging them on every cleaning my niece mucked up 3 iPads under warranty cleaning the screens )
and would trade a tablet for a net book ASAP
What did she clean it with? My little one is big enough to use a computer but all my touch screen stuff seem indestructible no matter who made it.
I know a lot of people who try to clean things with Windex and the ammonia softens plastic and anti glare coatings but IIRC iPads are glass.
I actually just traded my netbook for a tablet, my netbook was having issues and I had bought a tablet a few months ago so I bought a little bit larger laptop (12") to replace the netbook at home and use the tablet when I'm out and about where I used to use the netbook.
I still have a first generation Aspire One, broken fan but it runs. It sucks. The latter generation 'netbooks' like the chromebooks weren't so bad (in this sense they are still alive and well), but the battery life has always sucked on these things. Also, atom cpus are a joke and should be discontinued.
