My HP Mini is still working very well, running Slack 14.1 on it. I would miss it if it died. Its small for traveling with. Fits in my backpack with my camera. Provides on site backup to pictures I will probably never have a chance to duplicate. 8 hour battery life is great, along with a 120 gig drive.

Netbooks were just too small to be that useful.

Tablets are just oversized smartphones which are not phones. Mobile social network checkers...

Laptops/notebooks are great if you attach a mouse.

My only complaint about netbooks in general is the lack of processing power. Linux does a great job of hiding that as much as possible, but (at least on my Atom) it's still fairly clear that I'm using a machine that has almost nothing behind it.

I can't believe they sold these things with XP on them...

I think video power was more of an issue. My biggest issue was just scrolling through a document was too slow, my tablet was faster.

What did she clean it with? My little one is big enough to use a computer but all my touch screen stuff seem indestructible no matter who made it.

I know a lot of people who try to clean things with Windex and the ammonia softens plastic and anti glare coatings but IIRC iPads are glass.
I actually just traded my netbook for a tablet, my netbook was having issues and I had bought a tablet a few months ago so I bought a little bit larger laptop (12") to replace the netbook at home and use the tablet when I'm out and about where I used to use the netbook.

Sometimes I wish the netbook would have gotten more powerful over time like android devices did.

I mean, android is OK, but I would prefer a linux OS any day over android on a portable computer.

Installing linux on a android device is risky and not intuitive. But installing linux on netbooks is more doable.

I hope some company would revive the netbook but a more powerful one and continue advancing the technology as they do with tablets.

Mini PC's will no longer be sold in the future. There is no mini pc sold anylonger... or few.

Welcome to the Reign of Tablets and ANDROID!!

(I am against, but you know the law of market)

I do not miss a netbook. I bought one 5-6 years ago and have hardly ever used it - One of my silliest IT-related purchases.

I still have a first generation Aspire One, broken fan but it runs. It sucks. The latter generation 'netbooks' like the chromebooks weren't so bad (in this sense they are still alive and well), but the battery life has always sucked on these things. Also, atom cpus are a joke and should be discontinued.
