Do you have a cassette tape recorder? Please test my data-on-audio-cassette program
 

Hello,

I've written a program that allows you to store data on cassette tapes. It can store about 600KB on one side of a 30 minute tape.

I've tested it and found it to work reliably with my own tape machines, but because different machines affect the signal in different ways, I want to test it with other people's machines too.

The program is designed to run on linux. It requires bash and the Brandy BBC BASIC interpreter.

Would anyone be interested in trying it?

You do realize that floppies were basically a disc of tape that held 1.5MB, right? No rewinding needed. :)

i used to have a drum machine that stored its settings on tape.

i could bite myself in the a** for selling it...

anyhow, i'd be interested (just for fun; i don't see any real application), but my tape deck gave up the ghost. need new rubber bands i guess, but where to get those nowadays...

I hear that this Christmas Tandy is releasing an improved tape drive backup that puts older versions out to pasture!

Honest injun! I heard this when I was at tech hifi to buy some refoam kits for my Ohm F's and a needle for my Technics 1200.

Can't wait for the new catalogs this year!
