Did you find this post helpful? Yes | No

Why do my posts not have the option, Did you find this post helpful? Yes | No

Am I missing something... ? :jawa:

They have it, indeed! Your first post in a new thread has not such an option, since it is usually a question, whereas usefulness is related to answers. Moreover, note that posts in General forum don't increment the post count and haven't got the Did you find this post helpful option.

TobiSGD 01-11-2011 03:17 PM

Why should you have an option to rate your own posts? What is the point with that?

Aquarius_Girl 01-11-2011 07:44 PM

One doesn't have the option to rate one's own POST, but surprisingly, one can rate his own THREAD, and BLOGS too (outside /General of course)

colucix thanks that was helpful... I have serious doubts about whether the reputation system is good and true.

I think it's not good at all. At least it is not serious.

I agree.
And also I'm not in favour of the whole newbie, member, blah, blah titles based on number of posts either.
But that's just me.:(

Maybe I am missing something too? I only saw the option to say "yes" that the post was helpful for posts outside of general. There was no option to say "no" it was not helpful. Judging by the number of unsolved posts in Linux Questions, my guess would be that there are more OP who would be inclined to say "no" then there are that would be inclined to say "yes". That could be because after a OP question has been answered, they do not come back. Until they get stuck again.

Hmmmm that is strange that you see yes without the no,I hav,nt got a clue and as it happens its no big deal,I refuse to get all hot and bothered, everything else is working fine... it might be that the page is not being rendered properly,I use Firefox the most but I always have Opera around as well. LOL

That's because you have yet not joined the senior member user group!

Well, IMHO, "no" should be said only if the post is 'unhelpful', if you click a 'no' on the genuine effort of someone trying to help, he might get discouraged and refrain from helping further.
