Control a machine with your Brain? Really?

I just stumbled across this and thought it was pretty interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing a brain-computer interface (BCI) in action.

Where's Linux's part in it - firmware/similar perhaps? Linux apps maybe?

Just wondered what people here think of it?

I've seen similar things with robotic hands, etc.

My theory? if a brain can directly control the computer, vice versa will be next, I wouldn't want to be controlled by a computer . even if it's Linux.....Ya I know, it's probably a ways in the future but....

That is HIGHLY unlikely. If you look at how the interface works the mechanics are that brain impulses that control muscle movement are translated into bits which PCs can employ because that's what they respond to. There is no way to control brain chemistry by digital data. That function doesn't exist because we are biological and have no control access to such deep levels of the autonomic systems.... possibly unless you study Yoga for your whole life but those functions still can't respond to digital. We aren't programmed that way.

I posted a thread about a $65,000,000 Darpa "Matrix" brain implant project last July:
