Click on an Advertisement if you post in General?

When members start posting silly "forum games", one worded posts and the such, this is my proposal:

Since to me it seems like a waste of bandwidth for members to make repeated useless posts that don't "necessarily" help others here since this is just the useless mindless forum called General where anything goes. I would like to see how many would be willing to do this, each and everytime you make a post that is not about Linux on this site, you click on an ad to pay for the bandwidth you just used up to make that post?

So what does everyone think? Make a post here and when your done posting, click on an ad to pay for that post! Sounds to me like a great idea as I click on ads all the time which helps this site out each and everytime you do.

Just my thoughts as this site is not free and I feel many members are taking it for granted.

Regards.

-trickykid

PS. I just clicked on well, not one ad but several I could find on the main forum page just after posting this new thread.

I think everyone should click on an ad even when they just visit this site.

If I can live with the ad-banner in Opera(free Download) , why not with the ads here?
It's not that I'll be tempted to buy anything from those ads ; refusing a creditcard and hence to bankrupt myself does have its merits.

why not just give the threads in general a shelf life, of say 30 days?

Or , in a related vein of thoughts : Make the posts in "General" not count towards ones postcount.
This is implemented on one of the other messageboards , I frequent.
Works A-OK , I might say.
And it prevents the spammers from attaining "Guru"-status.....

I would, but I use Firebird+Ad Blocking UserContent.css...

So even if I wanted to, I can't see any ads. Maybe add some text ads?

But what happens if a post is moved to or from General? Unless Jeremy can program in a way to automatically change the count, the mods are going to be tied up with counting posts.

I would much prefer 'invisible' counts - no. of posts only show up on user profile pages. Or limit General to people with over a specific number of posts in the 'real' forums. Some people tend to only reside in General

I like the idea of taking away the post count altogether, or hiding it. Either that or just take away the count posted in general.. Although it's not like having a visible count is really that important.

Anyway, I would gladly click on an ad every time I posted here if it supported LQ.
