I've been using Chrome over Firefox lately, mostly because it seems to be faster, especially for stuff like YouTube. I may also need to give Firefox a fresh start since I haven't really changed much in settings since version 4 (yes four).
I've used Firefox the most in life (so far;) with Iceweasel as number two, then IE but that won't last on my list as I don't use winlose any more... as long as I can install script and add blockers am happy though prefer free as in freedom.

Blink = chromium = chrome.
Vivaldi is a new project from one of the founders (former) of Opera and many of the former Opera employees. When he split with Opera and Opera went down the wrong road, in his opinion, mine, and many others, he started Vivaldi.
The "new" Opera dumped their Presto engine and started using blink from google. Vivaldi has done the same, that is, they are using blink as their rendering engine.
While both the "new" Opera and Vivaldi are making changes to the GUI, it is, under the hood, blink.
My first reaction to both Vivalid and the new Opera is, "IF I wanted to use chromium, I would use chromium."
BTW, nothing is free and both of these blink based browsers "call home."
If you deny them, they won't let you get out to the Internet.

I will give Google this. When they release a bit of software, it usually works and works quite well. I think that's why so many geeks unquestionably use Google stuff without considering the implications of running naked through the Googleverse....

I've only used Iceweasel for the first few months Debian had introduced it.
I was a Netscape user back in the day. I used IE for a bit in the early 2000's. Then switched to Firefox ever since. I've only started regularly using Chrome for the last couple months.
In an urban environment, turning the GPS off is a waste of time. Cell tower triangulation is accurate enough to see which grocery store you use. As long as the phone is on, you can be tracked very accurately. If you're that paranoid, you need to ditch the cellphone entirely.
If I was paranoid I'd just pop the battery out... my Geeksphone is not hooked up these days but I take it (for 911 here and there and sometimes) with an emergency walkie if I'm out on lake Michigan in the Kayak by myself.
Also, with the Geeksphone (and most things rootable) you can completely wipe it so they wouldn't know who's at what stores anyhow(, aside from .gov through the carrier.)
Add: tho I guess "they" could spam just the device itself, not carrying who you are $$$...

Now I am paranoid someone will swipe my chromebook out of my saddle bags . The power of negative suggestion I guess. So now I will roll with my home made android netbook I made out this. It has a touch screen also. But I have no big money invested in it. I'll carry a alligator clip 12 volt socket and a inverter that plugs into it and charge the sucka off the bike when I am running. Since the battery is only good for a couple of hours max. Smaller screen. Less weight. I guess.
(Saddle... ) make a saddle lock? I just carry my $10 (now $25 as I replaced the cracked screen, how I got it so cheap @ a rummage) in a backpack while I lock my removable seat\saddle-bags down to my mountain bike with a chain (tho if I can't get it around a tree or such I'd worry too (bike is not cheap and who knows where I maybe.))

Since I've been using Chrome more, I've been coming across more websites that start to load, then appear to freeze. The bottom will say "Processing request...", and eventually show a dialog asking me to wait for or kill the page.
I use google chrome browser only when certain sites don't work in firefox like Netflix and sites that requires flash higher than what firefox offers.
I've started using it for similar reasons, now for everything but gmail. Though testing FF lately has run anything, after installing extensions and such.

I haven't had this. Does it happen on the same sites in other browsers?
Chromium has been my main browser for long time, it has up to date flash and I like watching motorsports from Europe over the net. Not logged into Google and sitting behind privoxy. I just wish there was a browser as Chromium - plain browser without all the bells and whistles. I hear Vivaldi went open source, maybe that's my next browser.
No vivaldi is still proprietary however since its leader Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner was once the head of Opera before it became a chrome clone he did manage it very well.
Only corporate interests killed opera, however vivaldi is very community oriented so that makes up for its closed source nature.
My biggest issue personally with Vivaldi is that it is still very new and has a few bugs on it that need to be solved (such as video glitching)
I will still use chrome for now personally as I watch a lot of netflix and had chromium hiccup on me with it not getting the widevine stuff.
But the minute that vivaldi becomes stable I may ditch chrome, vivaldi handles my media needs quite well.
