You now have a spare battery.

You will most likely need a new power supply.

Its often a good test to remove the battery and see if you can power it up on AC.

Before get a new psu, check the fuse in the mains plug (if that applies in your country).

Using a new AC Adapter (Charger).
With MX Linux 19.4 live from USB stick:
Quote:
demo@mx1:~
$ acpi -V
Adapter 0: on-line
Thermal 0: ok, 41.5 degrees C
Thermal 0: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 107.0 degrees C
Cooling 0: Processor 0 of 10
Cooling 1: LCD 0 of 15
Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10
demo@mx1:~
$
I can not believe my eyes: BIOS shows the battery is charged 100% now.
Unfortunately this is false info ...
It can not work only by battery!

It might be worthwhile to check the adapter jack in your laptop since it has an insertion-activated mechanical switch to switch between modes automatically. Cruft or corrosion or lack of spring tension can render those inoperable but easily fixed.
