CD-R/RW's

Hi guys, weeks ago my burner went kaboom. It is ... was (sorry) Ricoh MP7120A (EIDE), but it is still good as a coffe mug holder and a regular CD-ROM, so now I am in a desperate need of one, so I need to get to bestbuy/compusa/etc to get another. Which one would you suggest? I was looking at Plextor, and there is a new kid in town Samsung with 8 MB buffer. Any thoughts?
P.S. Links to the writers I am looking at right now:
Plextor - http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0...?tag=pdtl-list
and Samsung - http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0...?tag=pdtl-list

If my drive were to blow up today, I would look more towards a DVDRW or a DVR drive. They are still abit pricey though, especially compared to the drives you are lookin at. Out of the 2 you are checkin out, I would probably get the Samsung. Very rarely I bet would you see buffer underrun problems.

Liteon make some excellent CD-RW drives at a good price.

Thanks for feedback guys, as for DVD-R/RW, man I wish I had 500 bucks to spare, nah, I'll wait a little longer before I get DVD-R/RW - first I need to upgrade my system. Aussie, I heard too many complaints about liteon drives, but you know they all were generalization of crapiness of the dirves. So I guess I have to test drive it to see for myself, but maybe I'd go with a SCSI one - the prices are falling down, so I'd find something for less then 200 bucks. I am looking for quality.

I can tell you from my experiences, don't go with Yamaha or HP. I have a 16x10x32 Yamaha, and it is a loud drive. And, every once in a while it seems to just go 'wacky'. It will suck my disc in, start making 'zappy' sounds, then hold the disc in. Even after a reboot I can't get it out. Have to use the manual eject button. Might just be my drive, but it has been enough to convince me to not try another Yamaha. Probably gonna wait (like you) for a DVR next.

Thanks Master, this is great I can get DVD-RW for a little over 200!!! They just out of stock - I am out of luck, oh well - thank you. And I am always following pricewatch, but my bad I've never looked at DVD-RW cause I thought they were still expensive and I have never bothered.
