Technical schools are not so great...but they are hands on.

That being said...no matter what path you take (University/Technical School/Certs) you have to take the time and supplement what you are learning with other sources and actual hands on experience.

My story...

I have an AS from a technical school. I have 3 certs (A+, Network+, and Linux+...working on my CCNA now) and I am currently going for my BS (at the same technical school). I work as a Systems Administrator (working with Solaris and Red Hat) and I make $54,000 a year (pretty good for an AS degree :)).

The possibilities are out there...did I get lucky? NO! Luck has nothing to do with it. You get what you put into it. The more work you put into your learning the higher the rewards...

Good Luck...
