CAPS lock key is now my left-CTRL key?!

I've been battling this problem off and on for a few weeks now. On our win'2003 server, I need to press the left CTRL key to act as my CAPS lock key and the CAPS lock key is my left-CTRL key...so they've been reversed.

This happens with any keyboard I've tried. Everything is fine when the server is powered on, but once windows 2003 loads up, the keys are reversed. To make things more difficult, the odd time, other keys don't work, such as number 2 (not the numeric keypad).

I've searched for spyware and viruses but nothing. I wanted to use sfc /scannow but it keeps prompting me for the Win'2003 Enterprise Server cd when this is Standard edition (it even says so in SYSTEM).

The keyboard driver is the standard one installed by Win'2003 as far as I know, though I've tried some others.

This problem started after installing a wireless keyboard and mouse combo and running the setup.exe that came with it. After uninstalling this and going back to the previous keyboard, this problem started.

The same server runs Cygwin, not that it's of much significance to this problem.

Any ideas?

Probably a kbd layout problem. Checked that?
BTW, good luck in getting Windows advice here, most of the people in these parts have only linux or BSD on their boxes... So do I!

I hear ya...and I've checked the keyboard layout..no problem there. Trust me, it's nothing this simple or I would've caught it by now.
