Cannot print from CUPS to winXP machine

Hi all,

I am trying to configure my (slackware 9.1) box to print over the company LAN to an XP machine.

I went to the sysadmin and asked for help but he just laughed and said printing from Linux to Windows was too hard so the gauntlet is down.

I have got as far as getting simple "test" signals to come out of the machine by doing this:

Code:
echo "test" | smbclient //jintana/hpLaserJ -P -N -c 'print -'
but no matter what settings I choose in CUPS it always reports that "Unable to locate printer 'jintana' - Unknown host"

I think that the destination box is lacking something, because if I do
smbclient -L jintana I get :
Code:
added interface ip=192.168.3.181 bcast=192.168.3.255 nmask=255.255.252.0
Got a positive name query response from 192.168.3.107 ( 192.168.3.107 )

        (etc etc etc)
The problem is I can't go and check the settings on the machine "ann" because it belongs to the General Manager's secretary

So, can any XP users please tell me what I have to do to get "jintana" to show this stuff
Code:
Sharename Type Comment
        --------- ---- -------
        IPC$ IPC Remote IPC
        D$ Disk Default share
        print$ Disk Printer Drivers
        share Disk
        ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin
        C$ Disk Default share
        Ann Printer HP LaserJet 4V.
if that is the problem.
I have made sure that on "jintana" the printer is shared
If that stuff is not the problem could someone point me to a tutorial etc which will show me the way.
I really want to stick it to the sysadmin over this one, i HATE when people laugh at me for asking questions

Thanks very much for any help,
mark
