Can utorrent resume an incomplete torrent previously downloaded using transmission?

I have noticed when I use utorrent to resume downloading a torrent initially downloaded by transmission, the downloaded percent have changed. I have two computers, an xp and an ubuntu. I used then only one at a time so when I'm switching, I resume the torrent download using the two applications. But everytime I switch application, their download percentage changes. Is it possible to continue the download percentage between the two applications? I hope my question is clear.

Regards,
archieval

Here is the example scenario to make it more clear:

started with utorrent: 200Mb done
continue with transmission: start at 200Mb, downloaded 100Mb = 300Mb done
continue with utorrent: start at 200Mb, downloaded 50Mb = 250Mb done
continue with transmission: start at 550Mb, downloaded 60Mb = 610Mb done.
continue with utorrent: start at 250Mb, downloaded 50Mb = 300Mb done

Load the .torrent file in each program and tell it to save the downloaded material to the same place. That _should_ work.

yes as cantab mentioned , you need to "refresh" the information that the torrent client has stored about a particular torrent.

that is to re-open the torrent and point to the same download path , that should do the trick

I can't do that. The destination folder when I use ubuntu is at my home folder. When I use xp, it is inside a folder in d: drive. What I did was after downloading in the xp folder, and then switch to my ubuntu pc, I put the unfinished file and torrent in my home folder. I have noticed that in transmission, it says although for example 500mb was downloaded, only 300mb was verified, but as downloading continues, the size increases from 500mb.
