My ThinkPad T61 laptop failed on me, refusing to turn on or acknowledge the battery or AC; and I don't have the patience or the expertise to try to determine exactly what broke; so I'm going to buy another used ThinkPad as I did before. I might upgrade to a T400, the next model. Does anyone know whether the hard drive from this T61 would work in a T400? It has to, because I would like to just plug my hard drive into a new computer, not start with a new one and copy from backups. (That's why I'm not trying to go newer than a T400; I suspect my hard drive and possibly my power supplies would work with the model right after T61, but I wouldn't assume anything newer is compatible.

Yes. They both use standard 2.5" SATA laptop hard drives.
