can ophcrack help

My question is about ophcrack, and whether it can help me

--my computer (os windows xp, and password protected) died. The hard drive is ok and in an "enclosure"

--I'm trying to transfer my old files to my new computer (os vista).

--the new computer can see the files, but when I click on them the message i get is "you don't currently have permission to access this folder". then "you have been denied permission to access this folder" I've gone to properties and tried to change things on the security tab, but nothing is working.

--I think the problem is because of the passworde on my old computer. can ophcrack help my new computer crack the password from my old computer and how?

thanks for the help,

Hrmm, if you are as 'administrator' viewing the files off that hard drive, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to view/read/write or do whatever. Thats the first thing I would make sure of; are you in an administrator account?
