Can DirectX work in a Windows XP Guest?
Howdy.
I have windows Xp as a guest OS in virtualbox. I enabled 3D acceleration and I installed guest additions as well. My DVD drive is a dvd/blue-ray. I can play dvd movies in the windows XP fine, however when I'm playing blueray movies all I hear is audio playback but no video. My guess is the built-in graphic card in the VM is not capable of playing HD movies or I don't have DirectX. Has anyone played a blueray movie in a VM or does anyone know how? Or will installing DirectX will solve this issue. I appreciate any ideas. Thanks |
What makes you think DirectX has anything to do with it?

just a wild guess because I read that directX handles multimedia applications. I don't use Windows that much I mostly use fteebsd and Linux.

How did you try to play movies? Can you try another player?
You can use dxdiag to check directX, but I think it is not related... |
