Can anyone guide me to a location in Toronto where a disabled person with certain illnesses can get a stay home computer fixing job?
I am a person with a certain disability. But I want to earn money.
I am good with Linux and fixing Microsoft Windows computer (OS side like reinstalling, startup fix and uninstalling).
I am a fast learner too.
But I can't go out to work like the other ten normal people and because of my illnesses, I have a serious headache when I am outside. And it's a menacing headache. To tell you the truth if someone shows me how to fix a complex computer problem I will never forget it.
Will Best Buy Geek Squad or any Linux or Windows computer fixing company hire me and give me a stay home job?
To tell you the truth I can be more productive by staying at home though I have certain illnesses.
I really need a computer technician job (OS side) when I am at home.
I checked the Geek Squad website. They don't have any job for a person like me.
So just wondering can anyone please help me or direct me or guide me to a location where I can find a computer fixing stay home job? I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I know when you call or chat online with Apple the people you're talking to are working from home and IIRC Apple trains you if you have a decent set of baseline skills, I assume since Apple does it most other biggish tech companies are much the same.
There's a huge thread about this across the hall at MacRumors
Your best bet is a remote tech support position, or as suggested by @dugan - advertise yourself on craigslist and other websites like that and work from home, also try the freelance tech consultations or something like that maybe?
As far as I know, Toronto has a very good social protection system. Headaches come while walking or just from the fact of going out? If this is due to physical movement, you can find a technical support office near your home and use something like a mobile scooter, here is a useful reference. There is a certain amount of remote work but you will have to communicate with customers in large quantities and this is difficult (at least for me). Maybe you should consult with your curator in social protection? I think they should know something that is more suitable for a person with limited mobility. P.S. You can learn Linux right away without waiting for the finale of your searches.
