Can't run programs in Cygwin. Windows 7 Ultimate

I installed Cygwin on my Windows 7 system, so I could run linux programs through ssh on my system from my Fedora laptop. But when I try to run the programs they don't run.

These are the programs I've tried to run.
  1. Anjuta. The program sometimes displays the window with the logo but then nothing. The program itself doesn't start. There is no error.
  2. Monodevelop. The program started when running an Administartor account, but I couldn't create a new project. Under normal user account, which I normally use, it doesn't run. It gives this error: Error: did not find one of the files in sources//usr/lib/monodoc/sources/gd2i node classlib-taglib-sharp is not defined on the documentation map node classlib-webkit is not defined on the documentation map
  3. Gedit. Program doesn't start. No error.
  4. I haven't tried to run other programs but my guess is they don't work.

The system is Windows 7 Ultimate with Cygwin installed, not in the default directory, cygwin is on a different drive: N:\cygwin, could this be the cause?.

Cygwin XWin server is running.

I can run XClock.

I'm a newebie, so I'm a bit lost, how can I fix this?

EDIT: I installed these programs and others(almost every package from the cygport mirror) from cygports with the default Cygwin installer.

So you got no errors when compiling these programs to run under Cygwin?

I installed them from/with Cyg ports, through the installer.

Might try mobaxterm to see how well it works to help trouble shoot.

I'm not sure all programs would display correctly on a remote x server.

Thanks for that, didn't know about that one.
