Caller ID displayed on computer

Hello all. I couldn't think of any other place to post this request since I'm such a big fan of the forums. Anywho, I have Knology packaged cable which means they handle my home phone (POTS), highspeed broadband for internet and regular cable TV service. I understand the philosophy behind how each are used and how the signal is separate, but is there software or hardware that would allow me to see who is calling my home phone while on my computer? I've googled til I'm blue in the face. Knology high-tier support tells me it's not feasible from their end because of how the switching is differentiated. There's bound to be a way what with all the technology that's out there. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be extremely grateful.

There are programs to do it such as:
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/app...d-2.2.2.tar.gz

From what I remember your phone provider needs to support caller ID on the phone line and your modem also needs to know about caller ID. I think the special modem feature is to read the caller information without picking up the call.

Probably not, unless you're using VoIP. Then it might, but I doubt it.
