Bzipping takes a really long time sometimes

You ever have one of those afternoons when you need to do something, but you're busy using your system, so you offload the "chore" to an unused system? Well, I'm learning a bizarre lesson about doing just that. See, I had a 5GB backup to run, so I loaded it onto a spare 233 that I use for things like that. Then I tar'd the directory. Not fast by any means, but it didn't take too long considering the hardware, a smokebreak at best.

Then, I began to bzip2 it. 2+ hours ago. It seems to be doing just fine, compression is impressive (bzip2 does wonders, especially on larger files), but geez! The price you pay, I suppose. I know it's an ancient system, but they really need to put a warning label on the man page.
