Broadband router/switch
 

I am looking for Broadband router switch.

I am running both winXP and Linux Mandrake 9.0 on dual boot. I want to set up a router as there 3 pcs on the LAN. Everything is fine but I just want to make sure that the router will have a firewall/NAT that supports UPnP. In other words I want to be able to use Windows Messenger (under winXP) for video Conferencing and also I want to be able to transfer files with Windows Messenger through the firewall/NAT.

Is anyone aware of a router/switch that supports UPnP?

I use the Linksys BEFSR41 at one house and the BEFW11S4 (wireless) at another. Both of them support UPnP after the firmware upgrade and work great with Linux, XP. And XP MSN Messenger works perfectly, including audio, video and file transfers. Check the microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger group or the MS MVP Johnathan Kay's site, http://messenger.jonathankay.com, for more routers that support UPnP and work with XP MSN Messenger.

I use a 4 port D-link di-704P, I run 4 computers mandrake, redhat and XP. It able to run VPN's, DMZ and a cable or dsl and a host of other things that i probably wont use, and i've had no problems with it so far and they are fairly cheap to buy.

yeah you can pick these things up fairly cheap now. I have a Netgear RT314 and it works great. Again, it supports a lot of things I don't use, so you might have to check, but it's easy to use and works great.
